About the Storm Water Department
The Town of Bremen is responsible for the management of Storm Water. When Storm Water falls onto impervious surfaces (surfaces that do not absorb water) such as roads, sidewalks, rooftops, or parking lots, this water needs to be controlled to prevent flooding or erosion of properties/streets.
Over the years, the Town has installed a storm water collection system throughout the community which consists of pipes and structures that control where the water goes. Like all infrastructure, once it is installed maintenance and upkeep need to happen to keep the system running properly. To fund maintenance projects and future growth, a storm water fee was created. These funds will be charged to everyone that resides inside the Town limits and will be used to manage, repair, and grow our storm water collection system.
Pollution: While storm water can cause damage to properties, we have to keep in mind that the when the storm water enters into the collection system, it will eventually make its way to the river. It is vital that we all do our part to make sure that the streets are clean and free of potential pollutants. If you see something that could potentially cause a pollution issue please call us at 574-546-3829.
