About the Electric Department

The Bremen Electric Department was established in the early 1900s. The goal of the utility is and has always been to provide reliable and affordable electricity to the residents and businesses of Bremen.

Power is purchased from the Indiana Municipal Power Association (IMPA) and delivered to Bremen thru the Northern Indiana Public Service Company transmission system.

IMPA is a group of 61 cities and towns that have come together to form a non for profit company that purchases and generates power and sells it back to its members at low cost.

This allows the customers of the utility to enjoy some of the lowest electric rates in the state.
